In the late 1980s and early 1990s, his studio-produced radio show Coast to Coast AM became one of the most popular. It was aired on more than 500 stations and heard by over 15 million people.

He established notoriety by hosting live question and answer sessions on his show. He learnt how to listen patiently and then respond objectively.

Art only screened questions once, when he aired his show from the Philippines in October 2006. He interviewed musicians, writers, actors, DJs, and comedians.
