The estranged couple revealed they are heading for a divorce after being separated for over a year.

The Backstreet Boys star announced the news on New Year’s Day, telling his fans that the couple decided to end their marriage after failing to reconcile.

Their joint statement read,

“It is with deep love and respect that we have made this decision,”
“Our focus now is moving forward in the healthiest possible way with friendship and coparenting our girls at the forefront of this next chapter.”

The exes concluded their message by asking fans for respect and privacy.

Fans commented underneath their statement with one writing,

What went wrong in AJ and Rochelle’s marriage?

Although the singer, 45, and his wife, 42, were separated for more than a year, he only announced their separation after being married for 11 years in March 2023.

In their mutual statement, they said at the time,

“Marriage is hard but worth it. We have mutually decided to separate temporarily to work on ourselves and on our marriage with the hope of building a stronger future,”
“The plan is to come back together and continue to nurture our love for one another and our family. We ask for respect and privacy at this time.”

“When my daughter asked to change her name to Elliott, initially, I didn’t know if it was a transgender thing, which it is not, but it is a personal choice,”
