RIP Barbara Walters! Legendary journalist dead at 93
Walters’ publicist Cindi Berger confirmed the death news of the first female co-anchor of the network evening news at ABC News, Barbara Walters.
She added,
“Barbara Walters passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. She lived her life with no regrets. She was a trailblazer not only for female journalists but for all women.”
Similarly, the CEO of the Walt Disney Company, Robert Iger confirmed the news, saying in his own statement,
“I have sad news to share today. Barbara Walters passed away this evening at her home in New York. She was a one-of-a-kind reporter who landed many of the most important interviews of our time, from heads of state to the biggest celebrities and sports icons.
Iger continued to explain the deceased media person with whom he worked together for more than three decades as a true legend and pioneer, adding,
“I had the pleasure of calling Barbara a colleague for more than three decades, but more importantly, I was able to call her a dear friend. She will be missed by all of us at The Walt Disney Company, and we send our deepest condolences to her daughter, Jacqueline.”

Who was Barbara Walters?
Barbara Jill Walters was an American broadcast journalist and television personality who hosted numerous television programs, including Today, the ABC Evening News, 20/20, and The View.
The daughter of a nightclub owner rose to her career peal after becoming the first woman to ever host NBC’s “Today” in 1974. The researcher and writer then went on to travel for work with first lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
The veteran journalist Walters was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.
Likewise, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2000. Walters also bagged Daytime Emmy Awards for Best Talk Show The View in 2003
