Former Major League Baseball player, Charles Haeger was wanted in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, Danielle Breed in the Phoenix suburb. And now he has been found dead along the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona. Police suspect that he has taken his own life.

After the ex-girlfriend of Charles Haeger, Danielle Breed was murdered in the Phoenix suburb allegedly by Charles, he was wanted in the case. The police were on the lookout for him but he was not traceable. And now, the police have discovered his dead body.

On 3 October 2020, at around 4 pm, the police found his corpse on a trail along the south rim of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona. Sgt Ben Hoster who is a spokesperson for the Scottsdale Police department revealed that it is suspected that Charles has taken his own life after killing his ex-girlfriend.

Before finding his body, the police also discovered the unoccupied car grey 2020 Chrysler Voyager of Charles near Flagstaff, the police officer revealed. This place is around 118 miles to the north of Scottsdale.

Danielle Breed and her murder

Danielle Breed, 34 owned The Tipsy Coyote Bar and Grill in Scottsdale. Her maiden name was Danielle Long and people usually addressed her by this name. Charles murdered her on 2 October 2020 Friday night.

The police responded to an alert about the sound of gunfire and they arrived at a residence that was near North Hayden Road and East McCormick Parkway. The time at that time was around 6.50 pm.

Danielle’s friend had come to his house and he saw the sound of gunfire and Charles coming out of Danielle’s room with a handgun in hand. He pointed the handgun at the friend but the latter managed to escape and call 911. The police put barricades so that Charles would not escape but he fled.

Charles too had self-inflicted gunshot wounds on his body.

The late Charles and his career

Charles was 37 years old and a knuckleball pitcher. He was a student at Detroit Catholic Central High School in Redford, Michigan. He played at the school and college levels. Chicago White Sox drafted him in 2001. From 2006 to 2010, he pitched 83 innings in the major leagues. He had also worked with San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, and Boston Red Sox.

Later, Charles became a coach. In 2014, he was a pitching coach for Madonna University located in Livonia in Michigan. From 2016 to 2018, he also served as a minor league pitching coordinator for the Tampa Bay Rays. In 2020, he got a job as the pitching coach for the Chicago Cubs’ AA minor league team. But he never could start the work since the coronavirus pandemic came in.

There are no details available yet about how long he was dating Danielle. It is also not clear why he shot her and what was the reason for their split. He probably has no children. The police are investigating the case.
