Chef Sohla El-Waylly gives birth to her first child

Sohla El-Waylly announced on her Instagram post on Tuesday that she and her husband Ham welcomed their first baby together.

The chef, 39, announced the news by sharing a sweet snap of her infant’s feet resting against a hand.

El-Waylly wrote next to the announcement, “I’m currently out of office and may be slow to respond.”

The baby news comes just weeks after Sohla first revealed in a TikTok video that she and Ham are expecting a baby.

El-Waylly did not provide further details about the baby’s arrival. However, her followers and friends were quick to congratulate her on the good news.

Sohla El-Waylly announced her new cookbook during pregnancy

In July, when the Bon Appétit food editor first announced her pregnancy, she shared some of her pregnancy cravings which included “childhood cereals.”

She explained on TikTok at the time,

“So I had Lucky Charms for the first time as an adult and I realized that my entire life, my sister has been picking out the marshmallows,”

“I was blown away at how many marshmallows are in a bowl. I thought that you just get one marshmallow. And they are amazing.”

She gave her opinion on a bag of cereal, saying,

“So I decided to treat myself to my own all marshmallows. You know, to like make up for all those years of never getting enough marshmallows. So now I have my own bag of marshmallows that no one can take away from me.”

Throughout her pregnancy, El-Waylly has been keeping busy by preparing for the Cookbook, Start Here which will be out on October 31. A synopsis reported to be an “epic guide to better eating” for “home cooks of all skill levels.”

The past few months have been a total celebration for El-Waylly who also celebrated her 13th anniversary in July. Sharing a series of snaps of her and her husband, she wrote, “Lucky 13 years 🎉 (2 weeks ago, but we both forgot and celebrated belatedly @cote_nyc).”
