Cher requests for temporary legal conservatorship of her son, Elijah Blue Allman
Cher filed for temporary legal conservatorship of her 47-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, December 26.
The “Believe” singer claimed Allman “is currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues” and is therefore requesting to be the only conservator of his estate.
The court filing states,
“Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from the Trust, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, Petitioner [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”

The 77-year-old singer and actress mentioned that her son will receive funds by the end of the year from a trust set up by his late father, music legend Gregg Allman.
According to the lawsuit, Cher has been nominated to serve as a temporary conservator by two of Allman’s half-siblings.
The musician icon is also a mom to Chaz Bono and Allman, from her first marriage to Sonny Bono.
Elijah Blue, on the other hand, is the only child of Cher and her late husband Gregg Allman. The former couple was married for almost four years from 1975 to 1979.
Gregg Allman, like his son, struggled with drug addiction for many years in the 1970s and 1980s before passing away in 2017.
In conclusion, Cher pledged to have “worked tirelessly to get Elijah into treatment and get him the help he needs.” The document ends,
“Petitioner [Cher] loves Elijah immensely and has always acted with his best interests in mind,”

How is Cher’s relationship with her son, Elija
In December 2020, Elijah’s estranged wife, Marieangela King, accused Cher of hiring four men to kidnap her son from a hotel room in New York City
However, the musician denied the accusation, stating “That rumor is not true.” In an October interview with PEOPLE, she addressed her son’s addiction issues. She expressed,
“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t, I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children, You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”
Despite the ups and downs in her relationship with her son, Elija, throughout the years, Cher promises to always be there for her children.
“I could fill a . . . I don’t even know, something gigantic with what I don’t know [about parenting], I just keep trying.”
