Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia are officially divorced
Artem Chigvintsev and Niki Garcia have finalized their divorce two months after the former WWE star filed to end their marriage.
A representative for Garcia confirmed to PEOPLE that they settled through private mediation, avoiding court proceedings.
The couple, who were married in 2022, share a four-year-old son named Matteo.
While specific details of the settlement remain unclear, it was reported that both parties agreed to drop their domestic violence restraining orders against each other to facilitate co-parenting.
The representative said,
“Nikki and Artem have settled their divorce and will not be going to court. Both parties decided to drop the domestic violence restraining orders against each other in an effort to move on with their lives and effectively co-parent their son.”
The statement continued,
“Nikki’s number one priority has always been her son and privacy on the matter. She is thankful for all of the love and support she has received during this difficult time.”
Nikki initially filed for divorce from her now ex-husband, Artem, on September 11 after two years of marriage.
In her divorce petition, she requested sole legal and physical custody of their son, Matteo, while proposing that Chigvintsev have supervised visitation rights.
Additionally, Garcia sought to terminate spousal support for both herself and Chigvintsev.
On September 30, a judge then granted a restraining order to Garcia against Chigvintsev.
Following this, the Dancing with the Stars pro, 42, filed for his own restraining order against Garcia on October 3, claiming she was the aggressor during the incident.
The following day, a judge grants Chigvintsev’s protective order against Garcia.
As of November 21, 2024, both restraining orders have been dismissed following mediation related to their divorce settlement.
The couple has agreed to share custody of Matteo and are required to attend parenting classes to facilitate co-parenting.
Artem Chigvintsev: Arrested, Faces Domestic Violence Allegations
On August 29, 2024, Artem and Nikki had a heated argument over how to prepare breakfast for their son, Matteo.
The dispute intensified when Chigvintsev began yelling at Garcia, making her feel overwhelmed. In response, she threw her son’s shoes at him.
During the argument, Garcia accused Chigvintsev of tackling her and pinning her to the ground while their son was present.
She described a struggle where she tried to enter Matteo’s room, but Chigvintsev allegedly pushed her away and took their son upstairs to prevent him from seeing the conflict.
Garcia claimed that Chigvintsev held her down for about 20 to 30 seconds, which made her feel suffocated.
Chigvintsev, on the other hand, claimed he was trying to calm the situation and protect Matteo from seeing his mother upset.
The Russian-born dancer admitted that he called 911 himself to ask for medical help for an unnamed victim after a heated argument, but he later canceled the request.
Despite his cancellation, police still arrived at their home in Napa Valley, where Chigvintsev was arrested and charged with felony corporal injury.
However, he was released on $25,000 bail within an hour.
The Napa County District Attorney’s office later announced that no criminal charges would be filed against him due to insufficient evidence to support a case.
