The tattoo artist Mesi Art Evans inked the face of famous DJ Fatboy Slim on the leg of a customer named Stuart Brown. Mesi did this life at the convention Tatcon Blackpool 2019 held in August 2019 in Blackpool.
For this, Mesi won the Best of Show award. On learning of this, Fatboy Slim was also happy and wished Mesi for his great art.
Fatboy wrote on his social media:
“Congratulations to Mesi Art Evans who won first prize. A tattoo of my face won the trophy!”
He shared the image of the tattoo with his followers on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Many have liked the image which was so well-liked.
Fatboy Slim is a popular DJ whose real name is Norman Cook. He gained fame with The Housemartins in the 1980s.
Mesi Art Evans and his career start
Tattoo artist Mesi was famous in the graffiti world before he switched to tattoo designing. He has been doing this now for the past decade.
Mesi said:
“As far back as I can remember art was very much part of my life, I could draw before I could walk! Art became a passion, a way of life. From being a toddler if it stood still long enough it was drawn on!
“I didn’t have much interest in schoolwork and a friend introduced me to the world of graffiti when I was 12. Urban street life became the norm for me and I chose art over education.”
He established himself in the world of graffiti. At age 16, he had his own business. Talking about it, Mesi had said:
“The opportunity came up and I set about opening my own company providing artwork, airbrushing and graffiti. I built up a client portfolio with customers such as Dr Martens, Harvey Nichols, Disney Stores, Clarion Hi-fi, Kenwood and Carling to name a few.”
Mesi Art Evans and his awards and career change
Mesi won several awards for his airbrushing and designs. He wanted to do something different and took to tattooing. Here too he gained fame.
He opened his tattoo studio in Lockwood called Black Label. He has been in this field for ten years and his studies came up last year. But he says that he is still learning.
He said:
“As an all-rounder with my artwork, I enjoy all aspects of inking. I mainly love freehand work from lettering, traditional Japanese, lacework to flowers and so on.
“Some of my favourite things to tattoo are pin-ups and watercolours. My tattooing so far has got me into magazines and on TV. Hopefully there’s more to come.”
