Who is Duffy?

Duffy is a Welsh Actress, Singer, and Songwriter. Duffy is best known for her hit “Mercy,” which peaked at number one on the British charts for five weeks in 2008 and went on to become the third-biggest-selling tune of the year while staying on the list for almost a year.

Moreover, “Rockferry,” her debut album, was a huge smash in Europe and received praise from critics in the US as well.

Duffy was born on 23rd June 1984 in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales. Her born name is Aimée Anne Duffy.  She is the middle daughter of Joyce Smith Williams and John Duffy.

Anne also has a twin sister, Kate Ann and an elder sister, Kelly Ann.

Apart from that, Aimee is of British nationality and of Caucasian race. Anne attended Ysgol Nefyn School for her educational background. She later earned a degree from the University of Chester.

Duffy began her career by performing at local pubs and a jazz and blues club. She then appeared on S4C talent program Wowffactor – a sort of Welsh antecedent to X Factor – and finished second. Jeannette Lee of Rough Trade Records introduced her to Jeannette Lee, who became her manager in 2004.

Anne releases a three-song EP as Aimee Duffy. She obtained a record deal with A&M Records in 2007 and released her debut song, Rockferry. The smash success – Duffy’s second song Mercy – sweeps the global charts and was certified Platinum many times in 2008. Endlessly is her second album, which was released in 2010.

Aimee also makes her acting debut in the Welsh-Arentine film Patagonia, as a Welsh student named Sissy. However, she revealed in 2011 that she would take a two-year musical hiatus.

She is said to have withdrawn from the spotlight after dealing with the pressures of prominence. Additionally, Duffy is now contracted to Universal Recording Group, according to her official website.
