What happened to Dylan Dreyer’s son Clavin?
Dreyer revealed Clavin was rushed to the hospital in an emergency when he suddenly suffered some serious health issues where an ultrasound determined his appendix was “fine”.
After the emergency room visit, Dylan and her husband weren’t convinced by their son’s health report and went to multiple doctor visits and underwent several tests to uncover the cause.
As Calvin had other symptoms as well including rashes on his scalp and his hair also began falling out. The reporter recalled,
“He’d be eating, and he’d just drop his fork. We used to joke with him and call him banana hands.”
Well, they didn’t get the final report until March as Dreyer recalled,
“The bloodwork came back with the results of him having celiac disease. I knew nothing about celiac disease. I knew a friend of a friend had it, and she couldn’t eat bread. That’s basically the knowledge I had.”
She continued,
“He had to go and get an endoscopy. They needed to send the camera down into his intestines to make sure there was damage caused by celiac disease.”
Fortunately, Calvin is now going well and his rash and ear pain also disappeared. His mother confirmed,
“He finally feels good … (for) the first time in a year. He’s happy we discovered this because it’s like, ‘OK, good. I can finally feel like myself.”
She acknowledged the symptoms were a side effect of celiac disease. Dreyer continued,
“It turns out that weakness in your hands is also a side effect. … We took him to the doctor for the stomach pain, and it turns out that it was all caused by the same pain.”
