The Proposal

Idris’ proposal to his girlfriend was beyond romantic. He asked her to marry him in front of everyone during a screening of his new film Yardie. He went down to one knee and popped her the question on stage.

When asked whether she said yes or no, he replies,

“She said yes and there was much clapping and cheering.”

Tolulope Ogunmefun, an actor, who witnessed the proposal also humorously congratulated Idris on Instagram, and captioned,

“So just left the Yardie screening .. you lot yea.. when I say the film this amazing .. not just saying that cah I’m in it ☺️????.. shout out 2 the big bro @idriselba bad boy producer! And he also proposed 2 his girlfriend .. was glad 2 witness it.”

The Couple’s first meet

Idris saw Sabrina for the first time when he was filming with Kate Winslet. And then they started dating. He confirmed it in an interview on The Jess Cagle Interview.

He said,

“Falling in love while making a movie about falling in love is pretty special.”

Sabrina’s ethnicity is Somali and she is Miss Vancouver 2014.

After the engagement, the couple’s first public appearance was made during London Fashion Week. The couple was sitting together and they were so much in love and flaunting their love.

Idris has had a couple of relationships. Prior, he tied the knot twice. In the year 1999, he married Hanne ‘Kim’ Norgaard. But after four years of their marriage, the couple started having differences and then divorced in the year 2003.

The couple is making their love tour post-engagement. After London Fashion Week, they are now in the Berlin Film Festival. In an interview at the Berlin Film Festival, he said,

“I certainly want to direct more, after 30 years as an actor, this is the best of all worlds. It’s a very healthy time to be a filmmaker. If I can get another directing job, I’ll be laughing, if it’s made in Hollywood or Berlin, I’m there.”
