Giles Deacon is a British fashion designer. He is the Creative Director and Founder of Giles Deacon group, Couture Fashion House.

Giles is well-known for traditional ideas of womenswear. Giles got the name British Fashion Designer In the Year 2006. His first collection for GILES was launched in 2004.

Giles was born in Darlington, County Durham on January 10, 1969, and has English ethnicity.

He raised near Ullswater in the Lake District.  He is the youngest child of David and Judith. His initial goal was to become a marine biologist, but he failed his chemistry A-level. He spent most of his childhood in Ullswater.

Giles attended Barnard Castle School in County Durham. He later joined Harrogate College of Arts, where he completed an art foundation course. He then enrolled at Central St Martins.

Giles Deacon was in the same class as fashion designers Alexander McQueen and Luella Bartley.  After graduating in 1992, he began collaborating on the label ‘Doran Deacon’ with his friend. In Paris, he worked with fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. He met the owner of the Italian luxury goods house, Bottega Veneta, and worked for the company.

After the Gucci group bought the company and terminated his contract, Giles was forced to leave Gucci after one season. Giles launched his first collection at London Fashion Week in February 2004.

He then began appearing regularly at London Fashion Week. Giles took part in the Channel 4 entertainment series, ‘New Look Style the Nation’ from June 2011. He also worked in the creative director position with French fashion house Ungaro.

In 2004 Giles won the title ‘Best New Designer’ at the British Fashion Awards. Giles also received the Young Designer Award at Elle magazine’s Style Awards. He won the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward Award in 2006. At the 2007 Elle Style Awards, he won the title “Best British Designer. Giles won the French ANDAM Fashion Award’s Grand Prix.
