Meghan Markle stunned in a gorgeous Givenchy wedding dress when she said I DO to Prince Harry.

The couple announced their engagement in November 2017 and tied the knot in May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

While the prince wore his military uniform for their big day, Markle wore a simple white Givenchy dress with a stunning veil a design from the fashion house’s artistic director, Clare Waight Keller.

In the 2018 HBO documentary Queen of the World, Markle reunited with her gown ahead of the day it went up on display.

Recalling her wedding day, the Duchess of  Sussex said,

“I had originally said to Clare Waight Keller, the designer, how can we incorporate that?”

“Would it be the state flower, country flower of each place? And it was her idea to do wildflowers, which I think ended up being a really beautiful way to embody the feeling of it.”

How did Meghan’s gown look?

The main attraction of the day was the bride’s handcrafted gown which was made up of a double-bonded silk candy. It included six meticulously placed seams with an open neckline, three-quarter sleeves, and a fitting waist.

Meghan wore Queen Mary’s tiara for her wedding

As per royal traditions, Meghan Markle wore a royal tiara for her nuptials which Queen Elizabeth II lent her for the day.  It was the late monarch’s grandmother, Queen Mary’s bandeau tiara which was made in 1932.

The tiara’s design is such that it is designed around the center brooch. It was a wedding present to Mary from King George V at their wedding.

Elizabeth Emanuel, the designer of Princess Diana’s famous wedding dress believes that the former Suit actress was smart enough to have a straight hem.

The designer explained,

“The train on the dress was square not round like my royal wedding dress and most others. I liked that she opted for a different shape on the train for a modern and personal touch,”

Details on Markle’s veil

Meghan’s 16-foot-long wedding veil carried many special details. It featured elaborate embroidery of flowers from each of the 53 Commonwealth nations.

She also included additional flowers from her birthplace California and Harry’s home Kensington Palace as a sweet gesture.

After the main event, Meghan headed to her reception in the evening in a Stella McCartney halter dress. It was much easier to move in for her.
