McKenna Kelley and Braden Doughty are officially married
Happy married life! McKenna Kelley has taken a milestone step in her life with her partner, Branden Doughty. She is the second daughter of Mary Lou Retton, who has four daughters.
The couple exchanged vows on Saturday, September 28, in front of 150 guests at The Preserve at Canyon Lake in Texas.
McKenna expressed her excitement about the wedding venue, describing it as “the venue of my bridal dreams.” She added,
“It’s a beautiful mansion-esque venue of white with exposed wooden beams, high ceilings and tons of windows that look out onto a preserve, it’s the perfect canvas to capture our timeless, elegant theme.”
The venue was beautifully decorated with bright green and gold colors. These bold colors were nicely balanced by delicate floral arrangements in shades of pink, cream, and champagne. The decorations were arranged by Cameron De Leon from The Petal Artist.
Before they recited their traditional vows, the couple took a moment to share the letters privately. Kelley mentioned before the ceremony,
“We are not doing a first look, so we will do this without seeing each other. We plan to be on either side of a door or wall to hold hands and share a prayer.”

Wedding attire
McKenna chose a WToo Fortune dress by Watters from Live & Love Bridal in San Antonio for her wedding. She recalled her experience, stating,
“I went in with a pretty-open mind, But once I put on the dress I knew it was the one. The simplicity of it spoke to me. I love the A-line silhouette and the crepe texture of the bodice. It felt so flattering and I felt so confident. I added drop sleeves and viola! It was my Barbie wedding dress dream! This is the one time in my life I will get to wear a wedding dress, I’m going to cherish every second!”
Kelley had her hair and makeup done by Ana Blanks and Kim Ramirez at Jax Studio. Braden, on the other hand, wore a custom-tailored suit from State and Liberty, designed for an athletic fit in hunter green. He paired his suit with a floral tie that included all the wedding colors. The groom described his outfit as “the perfect fall wedding fit.”
Similarly, Kelley’s bridesmaids wore champagne dresses from Show Me Your Mumu. Kelley emphasized the importance of her bridesmaids feeling beautiful and confident on her special day, saying,
“It is important to me that they feel beautiful and confident.”
Post-wedding Celebration
After the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom enjoyed a reception filled with dinner and dancing. During the cocktail hour, guests were treated to delicious appetizers.
They enjoyed bacon-wrapped chicken bites and brisket poppers, which honored Kelley’s Texas heritage. Guests also sipped on margaritas and Jack Daniels cocktails.
Dinner is catered by Jimmy Lyn’s Catering. The meal began with a cranberry mixed green salad. This was followed by almond-crusted chicken served with scalloped potatoes and garlic green beans.
For dessert, the couple chose a custom wedding cake made by Lani Cammer. They also offered cookie butter mousse and pumpkin spice cheesecake.
The couple took the time to write heartfelt handwritten thank you cards to each guest. In the notes, they expressed their gratitude, stating,
“Every one of our guests have made a significant mark on our lives. We would not be the people we are today without them. We wanted to remind them of their importance in our relationship and how thankful we are for each of them. Though this wedding is about us, it wouldn’t be without them.”
