Gracie Robertson is making the memory of her late husband alive through their daughter
Gracie Robertson welcomed her first child on July 4, a girl named Mattie Juliette. As happy as she is to welcome her newborn, she is also grieving the death of her husband just a month before.
Gracie’s husband Matthew Robertson passed away from epithelioid angiosarcoma, rare cancer that affects the blood vessels.
Robertson died just three weeks after his ER visit and since then the new mom has been through the most difficult time of her life.
Gracie, over Zoom, revealed:
“I’m not losing sleep because of the baby — it’s just impossible to sleep with the grief that I’m experiencing,”
After Robertson’s new daughter was born, she did a photo shoot with her daughter, parents, and in-laws in her backyard.
She added:
“So that’s what’s causing me to be so exhausted as opposed to the baby. I keep saying that at the end of the day, I would much rather be new-mom tired instead of new-widow tired.”

Gracie named her newborn after her late husband
She named her newborn after her late husband’s name Matthew and said that she is his clone.
Talking about how much Mattie reminds her of Matthew, she said:
“She looks exactly like him, and I’m so happy that I get to always have a piece of him with me. Looking at her and even just saying Mattie every day keeps him alive for me.”
The pair married in September 2021 and got pregnant with the child shortly afterward. She also said Matthew was very excited about the baby.
She expressed her bittersweet emotions and said:
“Every time I’m holding her, I wish he could feel how soft her skin is. Every time I kiss her, I think, ‘I wish he could kiss her, and I wish she could feel his kisses.’ I think what’s hard for me is enjoying the things that he should also be enjoying, but I’m trying to live for him. I wouldn’t say guilty is the word, but it’s hard. It’s hard enjoying things that I know that he should be enjoying too.”
