Jeffrey “JV” Vandergrift is no longer among us! The popular San Francisco radio host, 55, has been found dead near Pier 39 on Wednesday afternoon, March 22.

On March 23, his death was confirmed by the San Francisco Bay Area to the WiLD 94.9 website sharing a series of photos of Bandergrift from over the years.

“With a heavy heart, we must confirm that the body found near Pier 39 on Wednesday afternoon has been identified as our dear friend, family member & colleague, JV,”
“We are devastated to know now that JV is gone. Please keep his wife Natasha, his family, and close friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

The statement then concludes by stating, “JV, we’ll miss you. You are forever a Bay Area Icon”. Besides, Public Information Officer Niccole Pacchetti shared another separate statement revealing,

“On March 22, 2023, at approximately 4:56 p.m. San Francisco Police officers responded to Pier 39 regarding a person in the water. Officers arrived on scene and located a person in the water,

The statement continued,

“Officers and medics from the San Francisco Fire Department retrieved the person who was confirmed deceased at the scene. At this time, we have no evidence of foul play.”

Similarly, Vandergrift’s radio station paid a tribute to their beloved colleague on Thursday via Twitter. The tweets read,

“With a heavy heart, we must confirm that the body found near Pier 39 on Wednesday afternoon has been identified as our dear friend, family member & colleague, JV. We are devastated to know now that JV is gone. Please keep his wife Natasha, his family, and close friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

Jeffrey Vandergrift had been missing for a month prior to his death

The radio personality’s dead body was found a month after he had gone missing on February 24. According to the police report, he was last seen the night prior to he went missing and was considered “at-risk”.

Similarly, his wife Natasha Yi addressed the missing of her husband on March 2 with an Instagram post. She wrote,

“I can feel you love and energy for JV, and I am do grateful for it, The amount of compassion for the physical torture JV has been going through for the past 2 years has been overwhelming.”

She continued,

“We are incredibly appreciative for the SFPD’s ongoing efforts in locating JV and they have asked us to keep the details to immediate family only. I know how painful this is for you to hear — please know that I have you in my thoughts,”

Yi also gave an update on her husband’s health at the time revealing Vandergrift had a diagnosis with Lyme disease in 2021.
