Update 2022: Nick Cordero, the husband of Amanda Kloots, took his last on July 5, 2020. He died from COVID-19-related complications after spending more than three months in the hospital. He was 41.

Canadian actor Nick Cordero, 43 was in the hospital for the past 2 weeks. He tested positive for coronavirus and his condition grew severe. His wife Amanda Kloots has been sharing updates on his condition regularly with his fans on her Instagram.

Nick was sedated in the intensive care setup and on Saturday 18 April 2020, it was day 18 of his hospitalization. And he began getting some issues with his blood clotting mechanism. The blood flow to his right toe diminished.

She wrote at that time:

“We don’t know what the damage will be. We don’t know if he’ll be able to walk again.”

Doctors put him on blood thinners. But these were causing problems in his intestines and lowering his blood pressure. His intestines began to bleed.

Therefore doctors stopped the blood thinners and reached the difficult decision to amputate his right leg which was getting gangrenous.

Nick resides in Los Angeles and is therefore now admitted to the nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Amanda said:

“They had him on blood thinners for the clotting, unfortunately the blood thinners were causing other issues. The right leg will be amputated today.”

Later, Amanda implored their fans to post videos of them dancing and requesting Nick to wake up. She put the hashtag #wakeupnick for it.

Following the completion of the operation, she later in the day posted:

He made it through the surgery, which is really big because obviously his body is pretty weak. Hopefully he’ll just kind of relax and rest.”

Amanda also disclosed that their friends started a GoFundMe campaign to assist in hospital bill payments and also to help make their home wheelchair accessible.

She thanked them:

“I’m really blown away guys … I wanna thank anyone that has given anything that they can. It’s just overwhelming, I really thank you so much.”

The amount collected has nearly reached its target of $250,000 (£200,000).

About the couple

Amanda is a fitness instructor and the Canadian actor Nick was nominated for Tony earlier. They have a child son Elvis who is now 10 months old.

The star month back had uploaded a photo of his family and captioned it:

“These days I’m counting my blessings… This one is top of the list.”
