Bam Margera has turned himself in after allegedly assaulting his brother

MTV’s Jackass show creator and star, Bam Margera, surrendered himself to Pennsylvania police on Thursday for allegedly getting into a physical altercation with his brother.

Court documents reveal that authorities issued an arrest warrant for Brandon Margera on Monday, granted him bail at $50,000 (£40,000), and released him.

The TV personality has been charged with assault, harassment, and terroristic threats, but has pleaded not guilty as per his lawyer.

According to police reports, Bam fled into the woods before the authorities arrived at his family’s home in Chester County, Pennsylvania following a domestic abuse call.

In court documents, musician Jesse, Bem’s brother, told the police that the reality star banged and kicked on his bedroom door and left a threatening note, warning him not to call the police. Later on, he punched his brother and threatened to kill him and others in the house.

Following his indictment, the Jackass star addressed the allegations on Instagram.

“I just got out of the courthouse with my lawyers. Everything went great and the false accusations of what my brother says are not true and he will be sued for defamation as well as being evicted from castle bam sooner than later.”

He added:

“The reason this happened is because I read his phone saying he wants me back in California and he wants to find a way to 302 me. F*** him.”

His lawyer Michael van der Veen said in his statement:

“[Margera] was arraigned and entered his plea of not guilty. He was released on an unsecured bail. Mr. Margera enjoys all of his constitutional rights, including the presumption of innocence. The wild rumors regarding his behavior this week are absolutely false. He is in good health and in good spirits. Families have disputes all the time. Every family has disputes. This isn’t a dispute that should play out in the courts or the media.”

He has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Pennsylvania court on May 25th.

Margera has had a controversial few months

In March 2023, police took Bam Margera into custody twice, first for allegedly assaulting an unnamed woman in San Diego and later for public intoxication in Burbank.

One month prior, his wife Nicole filed for legal separation after an incident involving his visitation with their 5-year-old son, Phoenix. The paperwork, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Valentine’s Day, lists September 14, 2021, as the separation date.

Although he can still have parental visits as long as he and his son stay in L.A. County, Nicole is now seeking full physical and legal custody of their child.

He requests separation and asks that she pay for his legal fees and terminate spousal support for him.

TMZ reported that Nicole saw Bam spending time with their son while she suspected he was under the influence, leading her to file the lawsuit.

Nicole claimed that her husband was acting inappropriately even though he told her he was sober.
