Jay Leno files for conservatorship after wife Mavis’ Alzheimer’s diagnosis
Jay Leno filed for conservatorship over his wife Mavis Leno, on Friday, according to Page Six.
TMZ who first reported the news said that Leno filed for conservatorship after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
The diagnosis is “the basis of the conservatorship,” an insider told the outlet.
While it is not clear when Mrs. Leno, 77, was diagnosed, the hearing for the conservatorship will be held on April 9.
One fan commented on Mavis’ diagnosis,
”Really sorry to read about his wife diagnosis & wish him all the best.”
Another wrote,
”Jay Leno is what all women should find in a husband/ partner. Loyal, and true, right through to the final curtain.”
One emotional fan with similar experience wrote,
”Very sad. Somewhat early onset at 77. It can happen as early as the 50’s and 60’s in some. It’s a disease that robs you of who you are. I nursed my Mom through it from beginning to end. It is the worst.”
As per People, the former Tonight Show host, 73, briefly met Mavis in the ’70s after he performed at Los Angeles’ popular Comedy Store comedy club.
The following week, the two were introduced by mutual friends and their love story began from there.
They said I DO in 1980, despite Jay joking that dating was not his cup of tea.
