A year ago, Asia Argento claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein in a hotel room in 1997. She was just 21 years old then.

“I’ve been damaged. Just talking to you about it, my whole body is shaking.”

Now, Asia is the one facing charges. Jimmy Bennett, a 26-year-old actor, and musician has claimed she had sexually assaulted him when he was an underage teenager, just 21 years old.

This news first saw daylight almost a year ago. At that time, Asia was accusing Weinstein of sexual abuse. Seeing her publicly speak, Jimmy’s painful memories came back to him, as said by his lawyers.

There is evidence to support his claim as well. TMZ has released pictures of Argento and Bennett shirtless in bed together. Also, there are text messages from Asia admitting to having sex with Jimmy.

This claim had proved to be a darker shade to the #MeToo movement as Asia herself is the most active representative.

Asia and Jimmy met when he was just 7 years old. On the set of The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, which she had directed, starred in, and co-wrote, Jimmy had played Asia’s son on set! And at that time, Asia became a mentor and he saw her as a mother.

According to reports, in the year 2013, when Asia was 37 and Jimmy was 17, a family member drove him to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina Del Rey, California to meet Asia. After reaching, Asia asked the family member to leave. Soon she gave Jimmy oral sex, climbed on top of him, and had intercourse with him.

Asia also asked Jimmy to take photos. As the photo is being reviewed now, a picture of them clearly shows their faces. And after the deed was done, Jimmy left the hotel confused, mortified, and disgusted.

The effect and consequence

This sexual assault clearly had a grave impact on Jimmy. His ability to work was hampered and his income began to minimize.

And after Jimmy sent his intent to sue, Argento agreed to pay him $380,000 as a means of “helping him”.

“I had sex with him it felt weird. I didn’t know he was a minor until the shakedown letter. The public knows nothing, only what the NYT wrote. Which is one sided. The shakedown letter. The horny kid jumped me.”
“It wasn’t raped [sic] but I was frozen. He was on top of me.”
“When I was 17 I was with a 33 year old man for years.”
“If I lose my job I will move to Africa or the Amazon forest.”

And for Jimmy’s allegation’s consequence:

“I want to be among the 90% of the world that doesn’t give a fuck about this shit.”

Jimmy also released a statement”

“I did not initially speak out about my story because I chose to handle it in private with the person who wronged me. My trauma resurfaced as she came out as a victim herself. I have not made a public statement in the past days and hours because I was ashamed and afraid to be part of the public narrative.”
