Joe Swash suffers a grave ear injury needing emergency surgery!

Dancing on Ice star Joe Swash is in deep pain. He suffered an ear injury and required emergency surgery for it. He will be in a head bandage until this coming Sunday 8 March 2020.

Joe Swash and his nasty ear injury

On Wednesday 4 March 2020, Joe Swash was on the sets of the show Dancing on Ice doing rehearsals when he got a bad ear injury. He and his dancing skating partner Alex Murphy were practicing a dangerous move on Ice. During it, Alex accidentally cut their ear of Joe with her skate.

This led to blood collection underneath the tight skin of the ear which is termed a cauliflower ear. This got infected which required urgent surgery to drain out the collected pus.

Joe’s ear and head region are now bandaged. This huge bandage would remain until this Sunday 8 March 2020. It is the final of the show this Sunday.

Joe, 38 shared the sad news on his Instagram for his fans. He wrote:

“I’ve knocked the ear and it’s like a cauliflower ear, it just got swollen and they had to drain it and cut it a little bit,”

Further, he explained:

“But the bad thing is I’ve got to keep (the bandage) on until Sunday. I’m going to have to take it off for the show, but I’ve got to keep it on all week. I did say to them, ‘Is it not a little bit overkill?’ And they were like, ‘No, it’s the only way we can bandage an ear.”

What do his co-contestants say?

Joe was in pain but he felt that he did not receive the type of sympathy have ended should have after this injury. But he took it sportingly and joked on his social media:

“I’d have loved to have had a bit of sympathy from people. I phoned up Alex and Dan Whiston (Dancing On Ice’s associate creative director) and they just laughed at me. My mum phoned me and made me go round the house just so she could see it and have a laugh. Then Stacey (Solomon) phoned me going, ‘Where are you?’ and then she did a whole build-up (on Instagram) saying, ‘I don’t know where Joe is’. And then I turned up and she had the camera straight in my face!”

Besides, Alex who allegedly was responsible for this ear injury of Joe also appeared to make fun of him by saying:

“I’ve never had that injury happen, I’ve done these roly polys before and it’s never happened ever, with anyone, only with Joe. It wouldn’t be a final if something hadn’t gone wrong for us.”

Joe and Alex will have as rivals Perri Kiely and Libby Clegg in their bid to win the show trophy.
