When will John Cena retire from wrestling?

WWE Pro-turned-Hollywood star John Cena has opened up about his WWE career and his plans to retire from in-ring competition.

During a recent press conference for his latest movie, “Argylle,” the 46-year-old candidly talked about his plans to retire from professional wrestling before he turns 50.

In response to a question about when Cena would play his last match, he stated,

“That’s not a maybe. That time is gonna come and it’s gonna come soon. I made a promise to the consumer early on, to WWE fans,’ cause I know how tough it is to be a fan. You gotta come out of pocket — and WWE has a ton of content — it takes a lot to be a passionate fan and our fanbase is passionate and global.”

Cena continued expressing his gratitude to WWE fans for their support and noted that he wanted to end his career with the same level of passion that has defined his remarkable career.

He expressed,

“I never wanted to go out there just for the sake of going out there, I’m gonna be 47 this year. I feel great. So inside I feel great, but I know what it takes to be a WWE performer night in and night out and I don’t ever wanna just go out there and do it to do it. I wanna have the passion — the same passion as the fanbase — and I wanna give them exactly what they give me. The miles on this odometer say, ‘Hey, that’s gotta be done before 50.'”

John Cena has spent over two decades as a wrestler after making a debut in 2002.

Similarly, he had his last in-ring appearance in November, when he was defeated by The Bloodline’s Solo Sika at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.

The rising star gave him such a hard time that he had to have surgery on his arm.

Why John Cena is retiring?

The 16-time WWE Champion addressed how challenging it may be to balance two distinct career paths.

He said that he is prohibited from competing in the ring while filming for security reasons.

Meanwhile, he won’t be able to return to WWE full-time unless there are exceptional circumstances like as the SAG-AFTRA strike that led to his most recent stint.

John clarified,

“As long as the phone keeps ringing and we’ve had some good opportunities here, I’ll kind of preserve that for as long as I can, But even coming back for these one-at-a-time things or short three-month periods, it takes its toll more and more, and I’ve just had an incredibly fortunate run with my health. I feel great. I just want to continue to feel great the rest of my life.”
