John Legend lashes at House Speaker Paul Ryan over his recent video of his children posted on his social media on Father’s Day!
Donald Trump and his government’s recent policy of splitting up immigrant families at the border has stirred up a lot of controversies. Amidst all this, for Father’s day, House Speaker Paul Ryan put up a video of his children. It was received with harsh criticism from many including John Legend.
John Legend rebukes Paul Ryan for the video
John Legend was furious at the recent post of House Speaker Paul Ryan on his social media wherein he had posted a video of his children. He admonished him and wrote:
“Seriously f—k you. Reunite the families at the border and we can talk about father’s day.”
The Trump administration has come under fire for their recent policy wherein they are separating parents and children attempting to cross the southern border into the US. In May this year, Attorney General Jeff Sessions declared that they are going to have a ‘zero-tolerance policy for illegal immigrants.
He added that any adult who enters the country of the US by illegal means would be criminally prosecuted and since US protocol prohibits detaining children with their parents, the children would be separated from their parents.
Paul had titled his video ‘How becoming a father changed my life and in this video, he showed how having children had changed his ambitions throughout his career. He captioned it as:
“My life changed the day I became a father.”
Referring to his kids, he added:
“Lisa, Charlie, and Sam are my highest priority. Wishing all of the dads out there a happy early #FathersDay.”
Chrissy’s attack on Trump on his birthday
John and his wife Chrissy Teigen have been outspoken opponents of Trump and his bizarre policies. Chrissy is no fan of Trump. He has surpassed all low expectations of him and people are shocked at it.
Chrissy had heavily criticized the new policy and donated $ 72000 to the American Civil Liberties Union to mark Trump’s 72nd birthday and implored everyone else to contribute what they could for it. The United Nations Human Rights office has also criticized the law as being inhumane.
She tweeted:
“The President celebrates his 72nd birthday today. On this auspicious occasion, in order to make Trump’s Birthday Great Again, each member of our family has donated $72000 to the ACLU.”
She contributed on behalf of herself, John, Luna, and Miles.
The implications of the Trump administration policy on illegal immigrants
As per the Customs and Border Protection, over the two weeks last month, several hundred children were split from their parents at the US-Mexico border.
What had Paul said in April 2018?
This year in April, Paul had stated that his goal was to spend more time with his wife and children and this was the reason that he was not seeking re-election.
It is an irony and comes as a surprise that a person who shows to the world as being the most sensitive father and husband is supporting the Trump administration in its policy which tends to be inhumane and separates children from their biological parents.
