John Lydon and Nora Forster spend almost five decades together

John and Nora met in the year 1975 at Vivienne Westwood’s famed King’s Road clothes shop sex.

The pair were at first friends and later turned their friendship into a romantic relationship. Opening up about their relationship, Lydon gushed to The Guardian last year,

“It’s love, you know. I’ve always loved that woman. And she knows it. When we met we didn’t expect to get on. We’d both been told the other was a bad’un. But blimey. Sparks flew. It was instant attraction.”

“And that’s never gone. I never expected to feel like that. I never thought I was in any way attractive. Or anyone’s idea of a good date.”

After dating for years, the two tied the knot in the year 1979 and remained married till Forster’s death. They didn’t share any child together.

However, Nora had a daughter from her first marriage, Ariane, also known as Ari Up, who died in 2010 at age 48 after battling breast cancer.

John Lydon earlier revealed he was Forster’s full-time caregiver

In a 2020 interview with The Mirror, Lydon revealed that he had become his wife’s “full-time carer”. The 67-years old singer/songwriter said he “won’t let anyone mess up with her head”.

He said of his late wife,

“For me, the real person is still there. That person I love is still there every minute of every day and that is my life. It’s unfortunate that she forgets things, well, don’t we all?”

Lydon continued,

“I suppose her condition is one of like a permanent hangover for her. It gets worse and worse, bits of the brain store less and less memory and then suddenly some bits completely vanish.”
