Jon Gosselin has marked a significant milestone in his relationship with his girlfriend Stephanie Leo by proposing to her.

On Saturday, November 23, the 47-year-old former star of Jon & Kate Plus 8 surprised his longtime partner with an engagement ring at her favorite restaurant, Willoughby’s on Park in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, in the presence of their parents.

The moment was particularly emotional for Lebo’s father, who was moved to tears and expressed his joy by telling her,

“You don’t know how long I waited for this day for you, and there was a time where I thought it was never going to happen for you. I’m so very happy for you and Jon. My best advice is never stop being in love. Love comes first.”

Jon proposed with a large radiant-cut diamond ring set in either platinum or white gold. The engagement photos captured the couple sharing a passionate kiss, with Lebo showcasing her engagement alongside a fresh French manicure.

The proposal comes nearly three years after dating. By April 2024, Jon was planning to propose to Stephanie, whom he referred to as “the one.”

He expressed to PEOPLE that he intended to pop the question within a year, stating he was “without a doubt” going to do so.

Similarly, he acknowledged Lebo’s support during his recent career achievements, noting that she prefers to stay out of the public eye and does not attend red-carpet events.

He said,

“I’m with my girl, she really supports me, She doesn’t really want to be in the public eye, so she doesn’t come to red carpet events and those kinds of things.”

During the event, Jon surprised her with a special lotus candle that opened up when it spun, as he knew it was also her birthday.

Later, she noticed a post on Instagram where Jon commented on the candle, saying, That was a super cool candle,” to which she replied, “It was super cool to meet you.”

After they started talking again, Jon sent a message to their mutual friend Dean, who had hosted the party, to ask if he could date Stephanie. The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star recalled,

“I called Dean because he is like Steph’s brother and I said, “Did you ever hook up with Stephanie?” and he said, “No man she’s like my sister,” And then I called Stephanie and asked her the same she said, “No way he’s like my brother.””

“So I called Dean back and said, “Do you mind if I ask Steph out?” And he said, “No I don’t mind, but if you hurt her I’ll kill you, I’ll snap you in half.” And he’s a big guy!'”

Jon and Lebo kept their relationship private until they opted to go public with their relationship in August 2023.

Gosselin explained to Entertainment Tonight that his growing career as a DJ, which required him to travel to major cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Miami, made it difficult for them to maintain their privacy.

The reality TV star stated,

“I started traveling, and we would go together, So instead of jumping the shark, we pretty much said, ‘You know what, let’s just organize something and come out publicly because it’s gonna keep on happening. We’re gonna travel together when we’re together.'”

Jon Gosselin was previously married to Kate Gosselin. They became well-known for their reality TV show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, which aired on TLC from 2007 to 2017, spanning 11 seasons.

Together, they have eight children, twins Mady and Cara, both 23, and sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel, who are 20.

Due to their tumultuous marriage, Jon and Kate only communicate through their lawyers. In 2016, Jon Gosselin secured full custody of his daughter Hannah. Similarly, he received full custody of Collin in 2018.

However, he remains estranged from his other children, including Mady and Cara, who live in New York.
