But as the pop princess’s memoir release date is coming near, more and more revelations about the couple’s past relationship show that Timberlake was not very innocent behind the cameras.

In her forthcoming memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears revealed that she had an abortion after being pregnant by the NSYNC singer.

Now, Page Six revealed that Justin called it quits with Spears with a two-word text that prompted her to say, “He blew the best thing he ever had.”

In February 2002, Britney who was just 20, was working on the set of her then-new music video, Overprotected: The Darkchild Remix in downtown Los Angeles.

The video’s director Chris Applebaum tells Page Six,

“There are those people where there is something inside of them and you don’t know where it comes from — it’s like an ‘X’ factor. That’s what we saw with her,”
“I was so happy that this person who was the biggest star in the world was everything I wanted her to be and then more.”

He shared rare photos that show the Toxic singer behind the scenes on the day she was left with a broken heart. Applebaum recalls that the Grammy winner went missing for almost 40 minutes toward the second day of the shoot, which was a long time because it cost “20 grand to sit around.”

When the director arrived at the trailer, he was shocked to see Spears sitting on the floor, her makeup ruined, and in tears.

Britney then held up her Motorola flip phone to Applebaum and said, “I can’t believe it. Look it. This happened.”

Justin confirmed Britney’s unfaithfulness with a music video

Justin, 21, at the time, was trying to reach out to Britney all day while she was at the shoot. Applebaum said that the Mirrors singer was pissed about her cheating with choreographer Wade Robson.

After the text, Spears’s longtime friend and assistant, Felicia Culotta then arrived to comfort Spears.

Heartbroken Spears was unwilling to shoot but her director then encouraged her by saying,

“If you don’t have it in you, I totally understand … but if you want to go out there and finish this last set-up in the rain, you can show him that he just made the biggest f—ing mistake of his life.”

Spears looked at Applebaum at that moment and said,

“You know that? That’s a good idea.”
“I’m going to show him that he blew the best thing he ever had.”

In her memoir, Britney revealed that she went to her home in Louisiana where she felt blacked out after the split while Justin was “happily running around Hollywood.”

Just a few months later, Timberlake released his hit song Cry Me a River which seemingly hinted that Spears was being unfaithful to him.
