Kailyn Lowry talks about motherhood journey after secretly welcoming her fifth child

She is already a mother to other four sons from her previous relationships.

Kailyn Lowry gave an insight into her family details during a recent interview with PEOPLE on Friday, October 13.

Teen Mom 2 alum, 31, has finally confirmed that she welcomed her fifth child, her first with beau Elijah Scott.

She gave birth to her fifth child a son named Rio last year, however, has been keeping the details of their new addition under wrap until so far.

The “Barely Famous” podcast host told the outlet that although she has been open with the world about her journey she wanted to keep this pregnancy to herself. She said,

“I wanted to be able to tell my own story on my own terms and kis of share what information I wanted to share instead of being within a contractual obligation or storyline,”
“I kind of feel like my hands are tied. People are announcing it for me, and so, at this point, I might as well just talk about it, At this point, I can at least try to do it my way.”

Kailyn is also a mother of other four sons Isaac, 13, with ex Jo Rivera, Lincoln, 9, with ex Javi Marroquin and Lux, 6, Creed, 3 with ex Chris Lopez.

The reality TV star acknowledged that their close friends and family had known about the pregnancy despite keeping the news secret from the world.

She revealed they hosted an “incredible” baby shower for them which she remembered as “a really great time to kind of disconnect” as the guests were asked to not bring their phones.

Further, she noted they did their best to keep it private but unfortunately, it didn’t happen.

“We weren’t able to keep [everything] as private as we would’ve liked with the leak from the hospital and things like that. That was definitely one of the sadder moments.”

How is Kailyn Lowry enduring her parenting journey?

The MTV star admitted that she and Scott weren’t planning to have a child together. She recalled, “It was a pleasant surprise.”

“As chaotic as it was finding out about being pregnant again, he’s been such an incredible baby that it really was a true light at the end of a really dark year for me, It was rough [last year] with the lawsuit, the depression that I dealt with, and everything else. So, he has been really a joy for all of us.”

Similarly, she opened up about her motherhood journey accepting she is still away from being an expert in parenting despite being a mother to five. She shared,

“Do you ever really become a parenting expert? Because every child is so different and every experience is so different, I definitely would not consider myself an expert, but I’ve been around the block a couple of times with kids. I feel like every experience is so new that I wouldn’t say I’m an expert.”

At the end of the interview, she spoke about embracing the “new chapter” of her life as a mother as she would no longer be on the new “Teen Mom” series.

“I’m adjusting accordingly. It’s an adjustment not having cameras around all the time, And it’s weird because it still feels like it’s a part of my life because it wasn’t that far away. It wasn’t.”

“I’m trying to just get used to the normalcy and being able to go out and kind of move around and move about freely, run my errands freely, schedule appointments freely. That’s been nice, And I’ll just stay busy with motherhood and the podcast.”
