Kate began her yachting career in 2007 and started working as a third stewardess on her first yacht. After working for over six years on Below Deck, she decided to quit the show.

She announced on Instagram that she was leaving the yachting industry to pursue a new career. She stated on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live that her age was the main cause for her departure.

Kate stated,

“I just feel like I’m 37 and a half, I don’t think a girl should be wearing a skirt at 38.”

One of the reasons will be her argument with Bosun Ashton Pienaar following her departure. In Thailand, Kate and Ashton had a heated dispute, during which Ashley even smashed the crew’s van window with a punch.

After quitting yachtie life, Kate moved to New York and started a radio series on SiriusXM called Unapologetically Kate Chastain. She then started her own production company called Remotely Possible Productions.
