Kelsea Ballerini has revealed the reasons for her divorce from Morgan Evans
In an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kelsea Ballerini revealed the reasons for her split from Morgan Evans.
She said:
“There were separations, there was years of couples therapy. There was like, many a night of sleeping on the couch,” Ballerini said of her relationship. “I don’t think it was the first night, but it was a night where I was like, this is not what I want.”
She also added that they would go a long time without seeing each other and she was tired from carrying the load:
“I was getting resentful because any time we did see each other, I felt like I was carrying that load, and I was tired.”

Ballerini also spoke about splitting their assets. She also revealed her phone call with her lawyer during which she was told she would need to pay him alimony or give Evans half of her house.
“And I was like, ‘Give him the house. I want out’.”
Furthermore, she also revealed that her husband wanted to be a father while she was not ready for it:
“I was like, ‘I’m not there yet, and I can’t do that to save this and give you something that I’m not ready for.’ ”
She also told Morgan that she wanted to freeze her eggs:
“It was not a good day. And I think that was when I was like, there’s a fundamental difference here that has happened, that has shifted.”
Ballerini also opened up in her new project, ‘Rolling Up the Welcome Mat’
Kelsea Ballerini put out a collection of six songs, along with a touching short film.
In the film, Ballerini reflects on the end of her marriage and finds it difficult to express her feelings to her partner.
The lyrics in the EP are very personal and relate to her separation from Evans. With the first song, “Mountain with a View,” expresses the moment when she realized their time apart was too much for their relationship to handle.
“I’m wearing the ring still / But I think I’m lying / Sometimes you forget yours / I think we’re done trying,” sings Ballerini — who wed Evans when she was 24 — on the chorus. “I realize you loved me much more at 23 / I think that this is when it’s over for me.”
The second song, “Just Married,” portrays the musician realizing that she was simply going through the motions in her marriage once the love faded.
“It was a beautiful wedding / Sometimes I still taste the Veuve / And dammit I wish I wasn’t this ready / To undo I do.”
Ballerini sings about the experience of leaving her luxurious city apartment and moving into her first house while her marriage was falling apart. In the third track, “Penthouse,” she also touches on the subject of kissing someone new.

“It hurts putting s— in a box / And now we don’t talk / And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half.”
“Interlude” has a diary-like quality to it, where the singer discusses how her fans found out about the breakup.
“There’s a thin line between love and hate / And it was love, but it wasn’t fate. Rumors going ’round, but the truth is kinda nuanced / I wanna set it straight, but my lawyer says I shouldn’t.”
The project’s fifth track, “Blindsided”, features her questioning whether her partner was even aware of the end of their relationship.
“You’re saying that you’re lost, and that’s lost on me / You didn’t ever wanna leave the house, I didn’t want a family. I know the truth is hard to hear, but it wasn’t hard to find / Baby, were you blindsided, or were you just blind?”
