American award-winning actor and filmmaker, Kevin Costner, 69 and his wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce in 2023. Kevin appeared on CBS Mornings on 26 June 2024 where he referred to his divorce as the crushing moment in his life.

The American filmmaker and actor, Kevin Costner, 69 appeared on the show CBS Mornings on 26 June 2024. He spoke of the challenges he suffered due to the divorce from his wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner in 2023. Kevin admitted to host Gayle King:

“That’s a crushing moment,”
“It’s powerful. It hurt, but I go forward.”

The actor confessed that he was left with no choice. And also that he had to move on rather than sit brooding on the past. He added that his children were witness to all the happenings and were watching their parents. He added:

“I can’t wilt like a daisy,”
“I have to go forward. I have to continue to be who I am, and keep a special eye on who [my children] are.”

Kevin’s personal life and relationships

While in college, Kevin fell in love with fellow student, Cindy Silva. The couple wed in 1978. Their daughter Annie arrived in 1984. Later, in 1986, their second daughter, Lily was born and in 1988, they had son Joe. However, the marriage ended in 1994 due to Kevin’s alleged infidelity.

After the divorce, he had a brief relationship with Bridget Rooney who later wed billionaire Bill Koch. Bridget and Kevin share a son together whose name is Liam and he was born in 1996.

Subsequently, in 2000, Kevin started dating model and entrepreneur, Christine Baumgartner. They exchanged wedding vows on 24 September 2004 at his farm house in Aspen, Colorado. Their sons, Cayden and Hayes were born in 2007 and 2008 respectively, while they welcomed daughter, Grace in 2010.

And in May 2023, Christine filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences. They had separated in April 2013. Kevin’s rep said :

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,”
“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”

They finalized the divorce in February 2024 and have asked for joint custody of their children.

Kevin and singer Jewel were spotted together in November 2013 at an event that took place on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. That sparked dating rumors. However, Kevin denied the relationship on the show, The Howard Stern Show on which he featured in early June 2024. He clarified:

“Jewel and I are friends,”
“We’ve never gone out, ever. I don’t want these rumors to ruin our friendship because that’s what we have.”

He added:

“I don’t want the press to ruin this for us. I’ve had conversations with her, text-wise, and she’s so smart,”
“She’s been through a lot herself. We have a friendship. We don’t have a romance.”
