He made his NFL debut on September 14, 2020, against the New York Giants in the season opener. He replaced injured starting guard Stefen Wisniewski at right guard. The following week, on September 20, 2020, against the Denver Broncos, Dotson started his first career game. Kevin was the starting left guard for the Steelers going into the 2021 campaign.

He started the first nine games before sustaining an ankle injury in Week 10. The Steelers acquired Dotson from the Los Angeles Rams on August 27, 2023, in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round selection and a 2025 fifth-round selection, as well as their 2024 fifth-round draft pick and 2025 sixth-round pick.
