Kevin Porter Jr., whose full name is Bryan Kevin Porter Jr., was arrested on charges of assault and strangulation.
The Houston Rockets basketball player, 23, was taken into custody on Monday morning, September 11, after allegedly attacking his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, in a New York City hotel room.
The incident took place at the Millennium Hilton near the United Nations in Manhattan.
Gondrezick got serious injuries a fractured vertebra in her neck, a severe gash above her right eye, bruising, and substantial pain to her face. A police spokesperson told the Houston Chronicle,
“Upon arrival officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and was complaining about pain to her neck. A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around her neck.”
According to Gondrezick’s lawyer, the NBA player relentlessly beat and choked her until she couldn’t breathe and ran out into the hallway covered in blood.
On Tuesday, September 12, he was released on $75,000 bail following his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.

His hearing date is on October 16.
Kevin and Kysre began dating in February 2022. Kysre is an actress and model.
Besides, she is currently a free agent. She played one season for the Indiana Fever after being selected as the fourth pick in the 2021 WNBA draft.
Kevin Porter Jr. has a history of legal troubles
Last time, Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested out of state in November 2020 on gun charges after a loaded handgun and marijuana were allegedly found in his car during a single-vehicle crash.
His charges were eventually dismissed after Porter claimed he was unaware of the gun.
In April 2021, he violated the league’s COVID-19 health and safety rules by visiting a Miami strip club for which the NBA fined him $50,000.
He was suspended by the Rockets in a January 2022 game after then-coach Stephen Silas said the player had a “spirited debate” and “lost his temper” at halftime.
