The reality star took to X on Friday after an article written by Allure criticized how she is trying to “normalize tanning beds.” She shared the piece and explained that it helped her with her autoimmune disease.

The beauty mogul replied to the magazine’s opinion, writing,

“I have psoriasis and it really helps when it’s bad. But I don’t use it too often,”

The tanning controversy started after the reality tv star participated on the recent “I’m ____, of course” trend by sharing a TikTok tour of her Skkn by Kim office on Thursday.

Wearing a furry cream robe and high boots, the video shows the mother of four strolling through her office, saying things like “I’m Kim Kardashian, of course, I have all my magazine covers covering my walls.”

As she continued giving the tour of her office, the Skims founder added a pair of tanning goggles to her look as she climbed into a lit-up tanning bed, saying, “I’m Kim Kardashian, of course, I have a tanning bed and a red light bed in my office.”

Allure immediately wrote an opinion on the accessory named “Please, Kim Kardashian, Don’t Try to Normalize Tanning Beds,” where they mentioned the high risk of cancer-related to indoor tanning.

The magazine further noted that Kardashian was sending a potentially dangerous message to her followers by making them feel it was normal to tan, also pointing out that “contrary to popular belief, UV exposure can be more harmful than helpful in the treatment of psoriasis.”
