Lance Reddick’s cause of death was revealed to be heart problems. However, his family and lawyer disagree.
His attorney James Hornstein claimed that Lance was the most physically fit person he’s ever known.

Lance Reddick’s lawyer and family dispute his cause of death

Actor Lance Reddick‘s family and lawyer are disputing the coroner’s determination of his cause of death.

Although initial reports indicated that the actor died from heart disease, his lawyer argues that the autopsy did not justify this conclusion and that it does not align with his lifestyle and fitness level.

He told ET:

“Lance was the most physically fit person I’ve ever known. He exercised daily at his home gym, including extensive cardio work, and the availability of gym facilities was a contractual requirement for his work away from home.”

He added:

“The information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle.”

Moreover, he also made it clear that his family doesn’t agree with it either:

“On behalf of [Lance’s wife] Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is not corroborated and is inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”

It is not sure as of now if the family will take further action beyond issuing this statement.

The official cause of death of Reddick

TMZ obtained a death certificate revealing that Lance Reddick died from Ischemic Heart Disease and Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease. The build-up of plaque in the arteries typically causes these conditions.

The actor collapsed in his backyard in Studio City and was found unconscious by his wife Stephanie, who called for emergency services. His spokesperson confirmed that he died of natural causes, but did not provide further details at that time.

Reddick had numerous credits on television, including Oz and Law & Order: SVU, but his most famous role was playing Cedric Daniels, a Baltimore cop who later became commissioner, on HBO’s critically-acclaimed TV series, The Wire.
