Lara Parker has peacefully died in her sleep

Lara Parker is no longer alive among us. The actress, who was best known for her role as the Witch ‘Angelique Bouchard’ on Dark Shadows, has passed away.

She died in her sleep on October 12, 2023, at her home in Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles. Her death was confirmed by her Dark Shadows costar Kathryn L. Scott on Monday, October 16 via a heartbreaking Facebook post.

Scott wrote,

“For more than 50 years, our lives were interwined through our mutual love of literature, writing, and acting, We could not have been more unalike, and therein lay the magic of our enduring friendship. My thoughts are with her family in this sad time of grief and remembrance.”

Parker is survived by her three children daughter Caitlin Hawkins and two sons Rick and Andy. She had shared her two sons from her first marriage to artist Tom Parker.

Whereas Caitlin was born to a building contractor father Jim Hawkins.

Lara Parker had her 85th birthday the next week

Lara Parker, whose real name was Mary Rickey, was born on October 27, 1938, in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, she spent most of his childhood in Memphis.

She came from a prominent Southern family. Parker was a great-great-granddaughter of Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar II and a third-great-granddaughter of Augustus Baldwin Longstreet.

Talking about her academic qualifications, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rhodes College and a Master of Arts degree in speech and drama from the University of Lowa.

Lara rose to prominence for her role as Angelique on the ABC-TV serial Dark Shadows, which aired from 1966 to 1971.

She also performed on Broadway including Woman Is My Idea (1968) and Lulu (1969).

Further, the actress made an appearance on various TV shows including The Incredible Hulk, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, EmergencyKung FuThe Six Million Dollar Men, Race with the Devil, and more.

However, she later retired from her acting career and pursued her career as a high school and English teacher.
