Little Mix talk about their feelings on splitting from Simon Cowell’s record label
The British girl group Little Mix started in 2011 while on the show X Factor. They were registered with the former boss of X Factor Simon Cowell’s record label but split from it in 2018. Now the group spoke to Cosmopolitan UK and described their experience with the label as bittersweet.
In 2018, the band was due to release their album titled LM5. But just a few days before, they had to break up with the label in order to be able to have more creative freedom over their music. Jess stated:
“It was really hard. Horrible.”
Her band member Jade Thirlwall agreed that their journey was rocky after they split from the label Syco Music. She said:
“[It] was probably one of the hardest parts of our career, but it was necessary. It came at a bad time, as we were releasing new music. We were so close to the people that were there with us every day.”
Fame and Jesy
The band member of Little Mix Jesy also had problems due to the sudden fame she got on the show X Factor. She said:
“It was a crap time in my life. I never got to enjoy [the process] like [the other girls] did. But I wouldn’t be here without it.”
She struggled with the instant overnight fame. Little Mix was working as a waitress in Dagenham and the show gave her the stardom of a pop star instantaneously. It was hard for her to handle all that.
How did Little Mix bounce back?
Though they faced difficulties due to the breakup, they did not lose hope and sprang back to action and fame. Jade elaborated:
“We’ve got each other. We’re very understanding when one of us is going through something.”
They are now having their own show-, a reality competition show-off BBC coming up soon. It is named The Search and in it, the group will look around the whole country and filter out the best all-metal, all-time, and mixed music bands.
Little Mix’s history
The group was formed on the 8th series of the British counterpart of the show The X Factor. This was in 2011 and comprised of Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson. They won the season and signed up with Simon’s record label, Syco Music.
In 2012, they released their first album called DNA. It was in the top 10 on the music charts of many countries. In 2013, their second album Salute also did well. Their other albums, Get Weird (2015) and Glory Days (2016) followed soon after. Their next album in 2018 they did on their own after breaking off from Syco Music label.
With their talent and determination, the group won several awards and nominations. They also did several tours which were equally popular. They also supported other artists in their concert tours. These included Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande.
