The Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell also joined the Neil Young protest against Spotify for airing Joe Rogan’s podcast that featured misleading information about the coronavirus.

Earlier this week, Neil removed all of the music from Spotify which led to losses in Spotify’s market capitalization of almost $2 billion over a three-day span.

On Friday, Dochev announced that she will remove her music from Spotify in solidarity with Neil Young. She said,

“I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify. Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.”

She is the first musician to join Young’s protest. Most of the classic Joni Mitchell albums including Blue (1971) were no longer available on the streaming service. Similarly, Spotify has removed over 20,000 podcast episodes that are disingenuous content related to COVID-19.

Young removed his music from the streaming service due to Spotify’s irresponsibility that supporting misleading content.

He said Spotify was supporting anti-vax podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience that spread false information about COVID-19.

He explained,

“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading false information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them. They can have Rogan or Young, Not both.”

This is not the first time Spotify has been criticized for Rogan’s content. In the last month, Rogan interviewed medical doctor Robert Malone, who claimed Americans had been “hypnotized” into wearing masks and getting vaccinated. Further, over 200 scientists wrote a letter to Spotify over the podcast host for spreading false information.
