Maleesa Monney was a 31-year-old model and real estate agent.
Besides, she was best known as the sister of a Guyanese pop star Jourdin Pauline.
Maleesa Monney was found dead last week in her Bunker Hill apartment on South Figueroa.

RIP Maleesa Mooney! Model passed away at the age of 31

Jourdin Pauline‘s sister, Maleesa Mooney is no longer alive among us. The 31-year-old model was found dead last week in her Bunker Hill apartment on South Figueroa.

Her dead body was discovered by officers shortly before 4 p.m. after they received a call for a welfare check.

The Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed NBC News that Malessa’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Her cousin, Bailey Babb told local outlet KTLA that Pauline’s behavior had changed in the past few days before her death and her family members were concerned about her.

Babb shared,

“When a week went by, we just knew something was off, Her messages weren’t delivering and we knew something was up because we all have a special relationship with Maleesa.”

Jourdin, a Guyanese pop star, paid tribute to her beloved sister in a heartfelt Instagram post sharing a family album of photos,

“Never in a million years did I think I’d have to make this post and get justice for my one & only sister, My heart is crushed I can’t believe you won’t be here with us anymore. You were so loving and so kind to everyone. You made sure if you ate, everyone around you was, too. You opened your arms to people who didn’t deserve you as a friend. You’re the best thing to happen to almost everyones lives. You touched!!!”

Besides being a model, Maleesa was a Realtor. She worked as a real estate agent at Beverly Hills-based agency Nest Seekers.

Her family held a candlelight vigil in her honor in Los Angeles on Sunday night, September 17.

Why do people believe Maleesa Mooney’s death is linked to a serial killer?

Maleesa’s death comes just days after another model, Nichole Coats, 32, was discovered dead in her Downtown Los Angeles apartment earlier this month.

Nicole’s death was confirmed by her mother Sharon Coats. Although the cause of her death has yet to be released her family suspects her death also involved foul play.

Sharon asked for justice during a press conference sharing her grief,

“This is senseless and I want some answers because my daughter is gone. It’s not fair. I want everybody to find out who did this to her.”

Adding to that, Coats’ aunt May Stevens said,

“I believe it was murder, I really do, One of her legs was up in the air in a kicking position. That’s not somebody who just laid in their bed and died,”

The suspicions of a serial killer started surfacing after relatives began to suspect there may be a connection between the cases. Both late models’ apartments were in about three miles away distance.

It takes only a five-minute drive from each other. Besides, they had a similar age and profession. However, police have yet to determine whether there is any link between the two cases.
