Malik B and his death

American rapper cum singer, Malik B died on 29 July 2020 at his age of 47 years. He was the founder of the group called Roots. His group tweeted about his death.

In their statement, they wrote:

“We regretfully inform you of the passing of our beloved brother and long time Roots member Malik Abdul Basit,”

It continued:

“May he be remembered for his devotion to Islam and innovation as one of the most gifted MCs of all time. We ask that you please respect his family in our time of mourning.”

A publicist for the band also confirmed the news of death of Malik B whose full name was Malik Abdul Basit.

The Roots also uploaded a photo of Malik with the band on their Instagram for their 668.9k  fans and wrote below it:

“It is with heavy hearts and tearful eyes that we regretfully inform you of the passing of our beloved brother and long time Roots member Malik Abdul Basit.
May he be remembered for his devotion to Islam, His loving brotherhood and his innovation as one of the most gifted MCs of all time.
We ask that you please respect his family and extended family in our time of mourning such a great loss.”

The reason for his death is uncertain and not available now.

The fans and friends of Malik B poured in their emotional tributes for him on their social media and in the comments section of the statement of the group.

One fan wrote:

Another fan commented:

“My condolences for his family and friends ❤️❤️❤️”

Another remarked:

“Prayers Going Up!! ????????????????????????????????????”

Many of his fans posted heart and broken heart emojis as a comment. Calling the late rapper king, one of his fans posted the comment:

“Rest in peace King.”

Another loyal fan remarked:

” Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May Allah give him an easy and pleasant journey and shower blessings on his grave. ????????”

About Malik B

Malik was born in Philadelphia in Pennsylvania and was part of the group from as early as 1999. For some time, in between, from 2002 to 2006 he had parted ways with the group.

Malik was addicted to drugs and the song Water in the album of the group called Phrenology talks about his struggles with drug addiction. Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter had written this track.

Writer Aaron Ellis had talked about Malik’s departure from the group in May 2012 on Quora. He said that it was due to four possible reasons namely drug addiction, creative differences, some legal issues, and touring.

Later, Malik B took a solo career. Additionally, after his departure he did appear in some tracks of the group album. As regards his family life, nothing is available.
