His dad Howell Wayans passed away at 86 on Saturday.

Marlon Wayans surely knows to differentiate between personal and professional life.

The comedian took to the stage second to perform a second comedy set in Los Angeles on Friday night just hours after news of his father Howell Wayans took his last breath.

Sources confirmed that the comedian found out about his dad’s demise while on a break between two shows at Flappers comedy club in Burbank, Calif.

Despite finding out the tragic news, Marlon still went to perform a second show where ‘‘he worked the tragedy” into his material.

Marlon, 50, also discussed his mother Elvira Alethia’s death in 2020 which created quite an emotional environment on stage.

It was only at the end of the show that the White Chicks star reportedly shared the news of his father’s death when he went “deep into his family dynamic/history as one of the Wayans.’‘ He explained that his dad “had just passed 3 hours ago.”

Insiders reveal that the actor got so emotional and cried after the show. Also, many members of the audience cried and gave him a standing ovation.

On Saturday, the Scary Movie actor announced that the iconic Wayans patriarch had died at the age of 86 due to natural causes.

His youngest son wrote on Instagram,

“Legend,”
“Thank you Pop for being an example of a Man to all your boys. I pray all young black boys can grow up to be a Man like you. Baby boy loves you. And if ever I need you I know exactly where to find you… in my Bible that now sits by bed.”

The comedian did not disclose the cause of his dad’s death. However, many suspect that Howell died of natural causes.

Wayans also addressed his mother in the tribute

Howell had ten children with his late wife Elvira: Keenan Ivory, Damon, Shawn, Dwayne, Kim, Nadia, Elvira, Diedra, Vonnie, and Marlon. Most of them have a good career in the entertainment industry.

Marlon continued paying tribute to his dad asking him to kiss his mom who passed away two ways earlier.

He added,

“Rest well. Kiss Ma for me. Tell her her babies miss her. I got two angels. I feel y’all lifting me already. If there’s a heaven I know you sitting in VIP sippin’ the best wine jesus can make…”

Many family members poured also paid their respects to him.

Diedre Wayans, the eldest daughter of Howell wrote,

“My Heart is Heavy. I thank God for allowing Us to have so many years of love, memories and great parent,”
