Spanish actress Ana Obregón revealed that her new surrogate child is her grandchild.
The surrogate grandchild is the daughter of her late son Aless Lequio who passed away in May 2020.
Aless passed away at the age of 27 after a battle with cancer.

Ana Obregón introduces her granddaughter to the world

Ana Obregón revealed that the surrogate baby she recently welcomed is the biological daughter of her late son, Aless Lequio.

Three years after losing her son, the actress welcomed her granddaughter via surrogacy.

Aless, whom the actress welcomed with an Italian aristocrat Alessandro Lequio died in May 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He was only 27.

Ana nicknamed her granddaughter Anita who is now legally her adoptive daughter.

The 68-year-old actress revealed that the baby was born in a Miami hospital on March 20, three days before her due date.

Ana says her granddaughter is “very good, a big eater and sleeper, and calm.”

Introducing Anita, Obregón said,

”This girl is not my daughter, she is my granddaughter. She is Aless’ daughter and when she grows up I will tell her that her dad was a hero, so she knows who he is and how proud she should be of him.”

The actress also opened up about the long, difficult journey to welcoming the bay girl. One week before his death, Aless expressed his wish to bring a child into the world to his parents after his death.

The grieving mother said that the process started “the day my child went to heaven.”

Aless was secretly in a relationship with his girlfriend, Carolina, at the time of his illness. Ana, however, did not reveal the identity of his granddaughter’s biological mother revealing that only a donor and surrogate were used.

Since the Spanish government prohibits all sorts of surrogacy, the actress used a US-based surrogate. Ana also noted that her son had decided to preserve his frozen sperm before starting his chemotherapy.

The process took three years because of legalities.

Ana introduced her granddaughter on social media

It took multiple attempts for a pregnancy result, the process was a long road for the family.

The actress asserted,

“But it’s what has kept me alive,”
“It’s just that if it weren’t for this, I wouldn’t be here anymore.”

Sharing the good news on Instagram, Obregón said,

“My Aless: I swore I would save you from cancer, and I failed you. I promised you I’d bring your daughter into the world and here she is in my arms.”
When I hug her, it’s an indescribable feeling because it’s as if I were hugging you again,”
“I swear that I will take care of her with the infinite love that I have to give, and from heaven, you will help me.”

She concluded,

“You are the love of my life in heaven and your daughter is the love of my life on earth. I love you to death. Mom ❤️.”

The young man was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma which is a rare form of bone cancer. He died just two years later.
