Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau Separation
According to the sources, Fualaau petitioned for the divorce from Letourneau on May 9, 2017.
Fualaau confirmed the news and asked a judge for a legal separation on that date.
Fualaau told Radar Online that he filed for divorce from his wife cum teacher because of his business plan to get licensed as a distributor for “Cigaweed” marijuana cigarettes.
After working as a DJ for years, Fualaau is now looking to get licensed as a distributor for “Cigaweed” marijuana cigarettes, he said.
“It’s not necessarily what you think. Everything is fine between us. … When you want to get licensed, they do background checks on both parties. If I decide to be a part of [Cigaweed] I have to be licensed and I have to be vetted and so does a spouse. She has the past. She has a history.”
But Fualaau said that separation did not mean their relationship is over,
“It’s not necessarily what you think. Everything is fine between us.”
Adding,
“All the rumors that you hear between us. It’s fine. Of course [we are still in love]. A piece of paper doesn’t break someone’s feelings!”
Letourneau’s attorney, David Gehrke, told PEOPLE that it was he who filed for the divorce,
“She could try to contest it, but that’s legally tough to do. Perhaps if they want to figure out about the children and child support, but their kids are getting pretty old now.”
“When one person is unhappy in the relationship, the other person can’t be happy eitherAnd there are two people in this relationship.”
Mary Kay Letourneau’s controversy
Kay Letourneau pleaded guilty to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child in 1997 after she had sex with then-12-year-old Fualaau.
She was married, her first husband was Steve Letourneau. Her accusations landed her in jail for six months, with three months suspended and no contact with Fualaau for life.
But again, after being released post a month she was seen with Fualaau. After being caught, she was again sentenced to seven years in prison and was released in 2004.
After her release, Fualaau, then legally requested the court revoke the no-contact order. They then married in 2005.
Mary and Vili share two daughters: Audrey Lokelani Fualaau and Georgia Fualaau. Their youngest daughter, Georgia, was born while Letourneau was serving her sentence in prison.
