After filing for the divorce, he was spotted picking up the food from a nearby Japanese restaurant in his hometown. He made his first appearance after filing for legal separation from Mary Kay Letourneau.

Villi first fell for Mary, 20 years back. He was in love with his then-grade school teacher. The forbidden love story became the headline all around the world.

Coming to the end of the controversial marriage, Fualaau submitted the paperwork on May 9 in Issaquah, Washington.

After the news of the separation, there is no news about where Mary is currently staying. Mary was once convicted of felony second-degree rape of a child in 1997 after engaging in a sexual affair with her then-sixth-grade student.

After the legal announcement of divorce, Vili made his appearance in jeans a light gray hooded t-shirt, and a black baseball cap. He came out with an unshaven look yet looked relaxed when he was driving to the New Tokyo Teriyaki Japanese restaurant in Des Moines.

The divorcee of Vili Fualaau and Mary Kay Letourneau

According to the King County Superior Court’s website, Fualaau, now 33, petitioned for legal separation from Letourneau, 55, on May 9. Fualaau confirmed the news to Radar, and Washington State court records filed on May 9 show that he asked a judge for a legal separation on that date.

The former school teacher pleaded guilty to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child in 1997. She came to the phase after having sex with then-12-year-old Fualaau.

Previously, she was married to her first husband, Steve Letourneau. Her plea deal landed her in jail for six months, with three months suspended and no contact with Fualaau for life.

However, She was released one month after the arrest. She was sentenced to seven years in prison and was released in 2004. After her release, Fualaau, then legally an adult, requested the court revoke the no-contact order. They married in 2005. Read the full story here:

One year later, Mary is hopeful that she will be able to save her marriage to her student Vili. She protects him. She wants the relationship to work and loves Vili.
