Is Matt Lauer attempting a comeback on HBO with a talk show?
Matt Lauer was the Today Show co-host who was fired last year for sexual misconduct. It is reported that he is trying a comeback.
Matt Lauer and the sexual harassment charges
Matt Lauer was with NBC and co-anchor of the show Today Show when in late 2017 several women accused him of harassing them sexually.
It became a scandal and there were a huge public and online outcry on it. Forced and pressurized by the happenings, NBC was forced to terminate the contract of Matt Lauer with them and he was sacked from the show.
Matt also had to accept the punishment and he quit the channel.
Matt Lauer trying a comeback
It has been a year since this all began for Matt. He has been leading a low-key life until now and it is now reported by some media outlets that he is trying to make a comeback. It is learned that he is trying for a talk show of his own. Will it happen?
Sources close to him have revealed to Closer Weekly that Matt is in talks with HBO and trying to convince them to let him have a talk show of his own on their channel.
It is also learned that Matt is employing the help of his long-time friend Bryan Gumbel to assist him in getting a deal done. Page Six had tweeted:

The insider revealed:
“He wants to host an investigative talk show, and he’s hoping HBO will give him a shot,”
The source also disclosed that Bryan is aware that it would be difficult to procure a job for Matt Lauer. But Matt is adamant and is willing to do anything to have a talk show of his own. He is even ready to beg the channel to give him a chance for the show.
Will HBO give Matt Lauer a chance?
It is not easy to believe that HBO would give Matt a chance after all that has ensued as regards his sexual assault case and his personal life. It is hard to believe that HBO would give Matt a chance and a talk show. Matt may be seen on television again but now it is too early for that.
Where Matt joins ultimately is not known, but it will not be with NBC which had fired him one year back. He was missing in action on this week’s episode of Today which featured the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Matt had hosted this event several times in the past and fans noticed that he is missing this time on the show. The event went well and several fans slammed Matt on social media and it was clear from their comments and messages that they do not want to see him again on the show.
Matt has remained mum on the reports of his comeback.
