American former basketball player, Tim Duncan, 47 was married to Amy Sherrill from 2001 to 2013. They have two children together. And when they divorced, it was a messy one. Amy accused Tim of infidelity and also claimed that he was bisexual. Were these allegations true?

Tim Duncan and his relationships

Tim Duncan, the former American basketball player is 47 now. His first wife was Amy Sherrill whom he had met in college at the Wake Forest University. Any was a cheerleader at his games. The two began dating and wed in July 2001. The couple shares two children together. They are son Draven Duncan (born 2007) and daughter Sydney Duncan (born 2005). But the two parted ways and divorced in August 2013.

Later, Tim started a relationship with Vanessa Macias. In December 2016, Tim attended his retirement ceremony with his girlfriend. She was in a black coat but it was still clear that she is pregnant. The coat could not hide her baby bump. Later, when Tim appeared on the show Road Trippin’ with RJ and Channing in March 2017, he confirmed that he has become a father and that his girlfriend Vanessa has given birth to a baby girl one week back. They named their daughter Quill.

The messy divorce with Amy

The couple had two children and everything seemed okay on the surface. Tim was generally a private person and kept his personal life under wraps. But things came out in the open with their divorce. Amy cited the reasons of conflict and discord for the divorce. She put in the divorce papers in March 2013.

Tim was shocked and hired a private detective to keep a close watch on Amy because he believed that she was cheating on him. And on the other hand, Amy too accused Tim of infidelity. She added that her husband was bisexual and had a male love partner. Amy also revealed that Tim had brought his gay partner home and this person stayed with them for first two years of their married life. All these disclosures shocked the world and basketball community. Tim did not tell the world his side of the story ever.

The couple had a prenuptial agreement and his material assets before marriage were out of the property settlement during divorce. There were reports that the two had also signed a confidentiality agreement that Amy would never tell the world about his true sexuality.

Tim and Amy’s divorce was in a secret hearing. The final settlement was done out of court and no one knows the details. District Judge David Canales who granted their divorce said:

“I don’t see it as doing a special favor for the sake of the favor,”
“These folks were involved in a very private matter and it was mainly for privacy.”

In September 2023, an unnamed source told The Hollywood Street King:

“Amy treated Tim like a bi**h throughout their marriage because she knew he was f***ing his BFF,”
“Tim knows Amy was cheating on him, but he’s willing to give her whatever she wants, because he doesn’t want Amy to tell the world that he’s bisexual.”
