Morrissey canceled two concerts at the beginning of this year

The former lead vocalist of the influential band The Smiths, Morrissey has canceled several concerts scheduled for this month.

Morrissey was supposed to perform at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Friday, January 26th, and at the Kia Forum the following night to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his album “You Are The Quarry.”

The shows were, in fact, sold out but unfortunately were canceled at the last minute due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The venue issued a statement, stating,

“We regret to advise the Morrissey: 40 Years of Morrissey show scheduled for Thursday, December 14, at The Civic, Auckland will no longer be proceeding due to unforeseen logistical issues. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Similarly, Morrissey’s manager, Donnie Knutson later shared a seperated statement on social media revealing the singer canceled the show on short notice due to his health scare.

The statement reads,

“Morrissey is receiving medical supervision for physical exhaustion, He has been ordered to rest for two weeks, and he will remain in Zurich.”

However, the team has not announced if the performances will be rescheduled.

The 64-year-old musician has other upcoming shows in Mexico and South America next month. Likely, it is unclear if Morrissey will be able to perform, which is set to kick off on February 3rd.

Morrissey has a history of disappointing fans during his live performances

In November 2023, Morrissey was scheduled to perform in several Asian countries including Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Indonesia.

Unfortunately, the tour was canceled due to “technical issues”.

This came after Morrissey had already rescheduled several shows due to him contracting dengue fever. Despite the rescheduling, the show was never able to take place.

Last time, the vocalist performed at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater, where he abruptly left the stage 30 minutes before the show was supposed to end due to the cold weather outside.

A band member informed the audience with apologies,

“Sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the show is not going to continue. Very sorry. We’ll see you next time.”

Similarly, He was compelled to cancel his 2020/2021 European tour due to the coronavirus/ COVID-19 pandemic.
