He was born Michael Lawrence Tyler on the 22nd of September 1970 in New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S. He is of Middle-British ethnicity.

His father was a storekeeper. At the age of 7, he lost his father. Later, his mother, Marie Tyler raised him along with his elder sister, Michelle Tyler, and younger brother, Maurice.

In September 1994, Michelle was murdered. In her home, she was stabbed 16 times and strangled with a radio cord. Her boyfriend was charged with her murder. However, he was never found guilty.

He graduated from Cohen High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.

– Initially, Mystikal started his career as a combat engineer for the US Army. However, he pursued music as his career when he met the hip-hop group, Run-D.M.C, and the rapper, Doug E. Fresh.

– In 1994, he released his very first album with the name Mystikal under the recording label, Big Boy Record.

– One year later, he signed with Jive Records. The same year, he re-released his debut album with the name, Mind of Mystikal. The album has additional five tracks dedicated to his sister, Michelle.

– In 1996, he signed with No Limit Records. Under the Jive and No Limit recording label, he launched his third music album, Unpredictable.

– His career took a major turn in his career when he released his fifth studio album, Let’s Get Ready. The album peaked at the 1st position in the Billboard chart.

– After that, in 2001, he launched his sixth album, Tarantula which received 3X platinum certification. Also, the album peaked at 25th in the Billboard weekly chart.

Moving on, in 2017, the rapper was again arrested. This time, he was charged with first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping case. The initial investigation team recovered the DNA evidence linked with the rapper that suggested the rape.

After serving 18 months in jail, he received bail worth $3 million.
