Jeff Bezos has chosen Oliver Daemen as his company to go to space. He is the youngest person ever to go to space. Last month Bezos announced that he would be one of the passengers when his rocket company, Blue Origin, conducts its first human spaceflight.
Similarly, he said that one of the other seats on New Shepard, a reusable suborbital capsule that goes up more than 62 miles before coming back down and would be auctioned to the highest bidder.
Likewise, more than 7,600 people from 159 countries participated in the auction which was concluded on 12th June 2021. The winning bid was $28 million but the person decided to defer his trip to a future New Shepard launch “due to scheduling conflicts.
Is Oliver Daemen going to space?
The person who will be joining Jeff is going to be Oliver Daemen who is the son of the chief executive of a private equity investment firm and one of the runners-up in the auction. As per the email,
“He was a participant in the auction and had secured a seat on the second flight. We moved him up when this seat on the first flight became available.”
He said,
“This is a dream come true! I hadn’t counted on this at all until last week that surprising phone call from Blue Origin came. This is so unbelievably cool! The flight to and into space only takes 10 minutes, but I already know that these will be the most special 10 minutes of my life.”
