P J Harvey is a popular English musician, singer-songwriter, writer, poet, and composer. She is best known for her songs like Down by the Water, Henry Lee, When Under Ether, etc. Outside of music, Harvey also expresses herself through art.

In 1992, she was awarded the Best New Artist and Best Singer-Songwriter and in 1995, she was named “Artist of the Year”. The singer also once has a relationship with Australian singer Nick Cave.

She was born on 9 October 1969, in Bridport, United Kingdom. Her father’s name is Ray Harvey and her mother’s name is Eva  Harvey. PJ spent her early years on her family’s farm in rural England.

Both of her parents used to love music. She was so introduced to blues, jazz, and rock at a young age, and later it helps to build her career. He also has an older brother named Saul Harvey in his family.

As a teenager, Harvey began writing songs and learning to play different instruments. She also had a passion for art. She joined with bassist Steve Vaughn and drummer Robert Ellis.

Working together they create PJ Harvey in 1991 and two singles. The trio built on their early success with their first album Dry the following year.

P J Harvey has released Let England Shake in 2011. This song has taken a more political stance. Moreover, Harvey has also expressed herself through her art.  At present, Harvey is working with photojournalist Seamus Murphy on a joint project.

The musician has also worked as an actress. PJ first appeared in the 1998 film The Book of Life playing the role of Magdalena. And she also appears in the talk show Later… With Jools Holland as herself in 1993. She has now appeared in more than 10 episodes.
