Poppy is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and YouTuber. She is popular for her uncanny-valley-like android entity that comments on and satirized internet culture and modern society’s personality.

This YouTuber was born Moriah Rose Pereira on January 1, 1995, in Boston, Massachusetts, the United States. She grew up in Nashville, Tennessee.

Early Career

Poppy began her musical career in 2011. She made two YouTube channels ‘Moriah Poppy’, which have been deleted. Her current channel is ‘thatPoppyTV’. Earlier, Poppy performed at social media festivals, including VidCon in June 2012 and DigiTour in June 2013.

This singer moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to pursue her musical career. She teamed up with former director Corey Michael Mixter, who is best known by his stage name’ Titanic Sinclair’ to make a series of abstract promotional videos posted on her YouTube channel, now simply known as ‘Poppy’.

In 2015, she signed to Island Records under the name ‘That Poppy’ and released her debut song, ‘Everybody Wants to Be Poppy’, in June of that year.

In November, she performed at the Corona Capital Festival.

She released advertisements for the shoe company Steve Madden on her channel as a part of its Steve Madden Music program in 2016. The same year, she released an experimental music album named 3:36(Music to Sleep To), composed by Titanic Sinclair.

Afterward, Rose starred in a series of videos for Comedy Central called ‘Internet Famous with Poppy’. She won a 2017 Streamy award in the category ‘Breakthrough Artist. Her first studio album Poppy Computer was released on October 6, 2017.

The next year, she released a cover of Gary Numan’s song ‘Metal’ as a single on all digital platforms. In 2018, she released the first single In a Minute for the album ‘Am I a Girl?’.Moriah released the album’s second single ‘Time is Up’, which features the American DJ Diplo.

She attended the 2018 American Music Award. Poppy presented the Streamy Awards in 2018. The video game WWE 2k20 featured her cover of ‘Metal’.

On January 8, 2019, she announced a graphic novel through Z2 Comics entitled Genesis 1, which was released in comic book stores on July 10.

The graphic novel tells the origin of Poppy. This singer revealed her plans for a movie and her music streaming service. She attended the Billboard Music Awards.

Later, she released her song ‘Scary Mask’ on May 29, and featured an American rock band’ Fever333′.  Her third studio album ‘I Disagree’ was released on January 10, 2020.

In addition to singing, she is also a writer. Poppy published her book The Gospel of Poppy in 2017, which parodies the Bible and contains prayers and transcripts of her YouTube videos.
